Teaching Pastor, Elder
Cooper grew up in church but didn’t come to a saving faith until his senior year of high school. After his conversion he had a desire to pursue ministry and he enrolled at Columbia International University. There he graduated with a degree in Biblical Languages and Bible. During that time the Lord strengthened his desire for ministry leading him to complete a Master’s of Divinity from The Master’s Seminary in Sun Valley, California. He and his wife then moved back to their supporting church in Woodstock, Georgia where he served on staff directing the college ministry. Through that time Cooper’s desire for shepherding continued to grow and in 2016 he and his family moved to Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2017 he was called to be the pastor of Faith Bible Church. Cooper and Brooke are blessed to be the parent’s of their four children; Shepard, Mercy, Hudson, and Jude.
Mike grew up in a small country church surrounded by extended family where his grandfather regularly preached. He came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ at a church camp around age 11. Looking back he recalls that God's hand was on his life over the next 20 years even though he wasn't pursuing a relationship with Christ beyond regular church attendance. In those years he obtained engineering degrees and worked at several companies including IBM. He married his wife Patti in 1979.
God began to draw Mike towards ministry in 1983 when he was asked to teach a 12th grade Sunday School class. Ministry responsibility grew as he got involved in Bible Study Fellowship and youth ministry leadership. God's call to vocational ministry in 1997 took the path of obtaining a Master's of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2002. He joined the Outreach Ministries staff at Colonial Baptist church and served there 12 years. Mike and Patti have been blessed with three children, six grandchildren and two Christian son-in-laws!
